Apinia zerumbet Variegated Shell Ginger
$46.00
Apinia Variegated Shell Ginger is a lush tropical foliage plant with large, striking green and gold-striped leaves that provide colour and interest all year round. Through summer, it produces delicate cascades of pale pink and white, shell-like flowers, adding even more charm to its bright, jungly appearance. This large, upright subtropical understory plant makes a stunning feature in tropical-style gardens and is ideal for adding a lush, exotic feel to frost-free areas. In cooler climates, it can be grown in a container and moved to a sheltered position during winter. Mulch and water regularly until established, usually within around 12 weeks. Continue watering during dry periods, particularly when grown in sunnier locations. If the plant becomes untidy, stems can be pruned back to ground level, with fresh new shoots replacing them. Feed regularly with an organic liquid fertiliser to encourage lush, healthy new growth.
