Allocasuarina verticillata, or the Drooping Sheoak, is a medium-sized tree featuring weeping dark green branches of fine needles. Native to Southeast Australia, it flowers pale brown from winter to early spring and also features small pine-like seed cones. The sheoak tree is self-mulching and suppresses any other plants growing under the root zone. Plant this native as a screen or windbreak - this unique native tree makes a sound like the ocean when the wind blows through its leaves.
