An elegant evergreen conifer, the Nordmann Fir forms a dense, pyramidal shape with branches that sweep to the ground. In cultivation, it typically reaches 15m tall × 6m wide, though in its native range (Turkey, Georgia, and the Caucasus) it may grow up to 60m. Its glossy dark green needles create a striking contrast with smooth charcoal-grey bark. Reddish-brown cones appear upright on branches, a distinctive feature of firs. Slow growing, with a 1.8m specimen taking around 10 years to produce.
