Prunus persica var. nucipersica SpiceZee, commonly known as the SpiceZee Nectarine/Plum, is a distinctive deciduous fruit tree that combines the sweetness of a nectarine with the tangy richness of a plum. In spring, the tree produces lance-shaped leaves that emerge a deep red before maturing to dark green as the season progresses. At the same time, clusters of fragrant pink blossoms cover the branches, creating an attractive floral display that also attracts bees and other pollinators to the garden. As the season advances into summer, these blossoms develop into large, juicy fruit with pink flesh and a rich, sweet flavour balanced by a subtle tang inherited from its plum parentage. Its ornamental appeal and compact growth make it well suited to planting as a feature tree in garden beds, trained along an espalier, used for edging in productive landscapes, or grown in large containers.
Soil: Well-drained soil.
Conditions: Full sun. Frost, drought and coastal tolerant. SpiceZee performs best in areas that experience cool to cold winters, as the winter chill helps promote reliable flowering and fruit production.
