Small Leaf Lynden Tree ( Tilla cordatathe) is a medium-sized deciduous tree with a spreading, rounded crown. Lush, heart-shaped, dark green leaves with a pale green underside turn a brilliant yellow in autumn. Clusters of tiny, sweetly scented, creamy-white flowers appear in summer, followed by small winged nutlets. The bark adds further interest with its ridges and furrows. The Lynden Tree is a great nectar-producing plant and therefore a valuable food source for bees and butterflies. The flowers are known to be used to make a soothing, fragrant tea. This species makes an excellent shade tree for large gardens, parks, paddocks, and street planting.
