An attractive shrub with a rounded, upright habit Templetonia retusa or Cockie's Tongue deserves a place in every Australian garden. The native is very hardy, with dark red pea-shaped flowers occurring in clusters during winter and early spring. Endemic to Western Australia and South Australia, the foliage and flowers of Templetonia retusa are attractive to honey-eating birds and insects and mature to oblong seed pods.
