Aniseed Myrtle (also known as Ringwood) is a relative of the Lemon Myrtle, known for its aniseed and fresh eucalypt flavour. Its edible leaves can be consumed fresh, dried, or powdered, and were traditionally used as a medicinal tonic. In the wild, it is native to the subtropical rainforests of eastern Australia.
The leaves are aromatic and often distilled for their essential oil. They can be used fresh or dried in tea, or ground up. As the leaves grow back quickly, you can enjoy a fresh harvest throughout the year. Simply select firm leaves that don’t crack easily and pluck them straight off the tree.
Conditions: Suitable for Full sun and part shade. Drought, coast and frost tolerant.
Soil: Well draining native soil. Tolerates sandy soils.
Size: 3-8m H x 3-5m W
