Querus palustris Pin Oak is a tall deciduous tree with shiny, deeply lobed dark green leaves. It is one of the best oaks for autumn colour as the drooping branches are adorned with the most magnificent rich scarlet leaves. The Pin Oak is ideal as a shade tree for home landscapes, urban streets, parks, or woodland gardens. It is toxic to horses.
Soil: Prefers medium to wet, loamy, acidic soils. It can tolerate poorly drained soils and some flooding but is adaptable to drier and urban conditions.
