Johnson's Prolific Almond is a deciduous tree grown for its spectacular blossoms in spring and the edible nuts that follows them. It has narrow, dark green leaves and produces abundant pink-red blossoms. The flowers are followed by round hairy fruits in summer that look and feel like small peaches. These fruits eventually split to release the almond kernel in early March. The trees are dioecious, so you will need both a male and female tree if you want them to fruit. Pollenisers: Brandes Jordan, Chellasto, and Self-pollinating Almond. Prune to a vase shape while dormant.
