Cherry Sunburst (Prunus Avium) is an attractive compact and upright tree. The tree produces elliptic deep green leaves, which change colour in autumn. It will require annual pruning in winter, as this will encourage a stronger branching framework, airflow through the canopy and better fruit quality. It produces large, heart-shaped cherries with red, almost black skin. The dark red flesh is firm and juicy with excellent sweet flavour. While it is considered self-pollinating, this variety will benefit from pollination with other cherries. Sunburst is a very reliable fruiting tree that is great for food gardens or as a feature tree.
