Lemon-scented Tea Tree or Leptospermum petersonii, is a versatile tree reaching up to 5 metres in height and 4 metres in width, boasting flaky bark and soft, light green foliage emitting a delightful lemon fragrance. Its slender leaves, growing up to 6 cm long, offer a refreshing aroma and display a narrow-elliptic to linear shape. This species produces small white flowers in spring and summer, attracting pollinators like insects. Adaptable and hardy, it thrives in various conditions and is ideal for mixed plantings or as a small street tree. Its foliage is prized for teas and essential oils, making it both ornamental and functional in the garden. Naturally found in northern NSW and extending into Queensland along the coast.
Soil: Well-draining soil, suitable for wet sclerophyll forest or rainforest conditions.
Conditions: Full sun to part shade, drought-tolerant once established, suitable for coastal regions.
