Hydrangea macrophylla Red Purple Romance is a magnificent hydrangea with deep purple or red flowers with a touch of contrasting lime, and dark green foliage that stands out in contrast to the flowers. Red Purple Romance offers early season budding with an absolute abundance of mophead flowers, and due to its darker hue, can withstand direct sunlight and perfect for those sunny patios in pots or large containers. We recommend a soil pH level of below 5 (very acidic) if you wish to maintain the purple hue in the flowers, or 6.5 or higher (slightly acidic to alkaline) to maintain the more red hue.
