Banksia media is a very handsome native shrub that is quite dense and has dark green serrated edge leaves. Its main feature are the heavily scented, cylindrical flowers, ranging in colour from light yellow to golden yellow to ochre orange/ brown. As with all natives, they attract birds and insects to the garden to feed on their prolific supply of nectar.
Banksia media makes a great feature specimen but is also useful as a windbreak as it is tolerant of salty blasts if you are close to the coast. Banksias are phosphorus sensitive, so a native fertiliser is best when it comes to feeding time.
Soil: Well-drained soil
Conditions: Full sun to part shade. Wind, salt, coastal, drought and frost tolerant.
Size: Height 4m x width 2.5m
