Banksia caleyi, or Red Lantern Banksia, is a hardy, bushy evergreen shrub with thick, leathery shiny green foliage. Endemic to a small coastal strip between Albany and Esperance in Western Australia, it displays spectacular reddish maroon inverted flower spikes from spring through to summer. Prune after flowering to encourage dense re-growth. Use in native gardens, general landscaping, mass plantings, pots or on embankments.
Soil: Prefers gravelly shallow well-drained soil. Avoid waterlogged soils.
Conditions: Full sun. Wind, salt, coastal and drought tolerant. Frost tender.
