Acer saccharum - or Sugar Maple - is a hardy, pale-barked deciduous tree with an attractive, pear-shaped outline. Native to the eastern states of North America, this large tree is suited to parklands or larger gardens for the space required to be seen at its best. Plant in an area where the grass below the tree does not need mowing as the roots are often shallow.
