Acer Palmatum Shaina, or the Japanese Maple, is a vibrantly-coloured maple with upright branches covered in bright red leaves in spring, and dark maroon-red foliage in summer. For best leaf colour, it is advised to plant in partial shade. When grafted as a standard, it makes a colourful and elegant showpiece in the garden, courtyard or patio pot. It is necessary to lightly prune to keep the topiary form.
