Acer Germaines Gyration is one of the more fascinating Japanese maples, prized for its naturally twisting and spiralling growth habit. This unusual form makes it an outstanding small specimen tree and a true feature in the garden. The fresh light green foliage provides a beautiful display from spring through summer before transforming into warm shades of yellow and orange in autumn. Germaines Gyration can be incorporated into mixed garden borders and grown in containers while young, but as its distinctive canopy develops and spreads, it is best given a permanent position in the garden where its unique form can be fully appreciated.
Soil: Dig over the soil well before planting, add some well-rotted compost and some aged cow manure. Plant and stake, water in well with a liquid seaweed fertiliser and mulch with a fine pine bark mulch.
Conditions: Full sun and will benefit from afternoon shade in warmer climates.
