This shrubby Acacia has a beautiful, complex structure of branches; the name ‘aphylla’ means ‘without leaves’. Acacia aphylla has a spreading habit with prickly blue-green branches. This is a spiny, spiky-looking plant; however, it is actually soft to the touch! Commonly called the Leafless Rock Wattle, this acacia develops lovely yellow flowers in later winter-spring. It is a unique wattle to grow, in terms of its leafless foliage and twisted wiry branchlets - it can be used in landscaping as an architectural centrepiece for year-round interest.
