Prunus domestica Green Gage Dwarf is a compact European plum renowned for its exceptionally sweet, rich flavour and aromatic, juicy flesh. In mid-spring, the tree produces masses of fragrant white blossoms, followed in late summer by a generous crop of small to medium-sized, round, greenish-yellow plums with amber-yellow, freestone flesh. Highly regarded as one of the finest dessert plums, Green Gage is ideal for eating fresh, or for use in preserves, baking, and desserts. Though self-fertile, it will produce heavier crops when planted with another plum variety. Grafted onto semi-dwarf rootstock, this variety forms a naturally compact tree, perfect for smaller gardens, orchards, or container growing. It responds well to winter pruning, which helps maintain shape and encourages consistent fruiting. A high-chill, mid-season bloomer, Green Gage may tend to bear biannually but rewards with fruit of outstanding quality.
