Waterbush, also known as the "Western Boobialla," is a fast-growing shrub commonly found on coastal dunes, river flats, and salt lakes. In Aboriginal culture, its berries were eaten, its gum used as glue, and other parts of the plant were utilised medicinally as a tonic, laxative, headache remedy, and treatment for rheumatism. The Waterbush produces small, fragrant flowers with white petals speckled with purple, followed by pink-purple berries that resemble mini Lilly Pilly fruits, measuring 5–7mm in diameter. These berries are edible and can be enjoyed raw or cooked as a culinary fruit. However, it's essential to research which parts of the plant are safe to eat before consumption.
