Eschscholzia californica Apricot Chiffon is a charming annual (often behaving as a short-lived perennial) renowned for its silky, two-toned apricot blooms. The cup-shaped flowers unfurl in sunshine to reveal fluted, pleated petals that shift from deep peach to soft apricot as they age. Even on overcast days, when the blooms close, the streaked, paint-brushed backs of the petals remain beautiful.
Growing to around 20 cm tall, this variety forms a soft mound of blue-grey, fern-like foliage with a glaucous texture. Flowering through spring and summer, it self-sows readily. Excellent for beds, borders, rock gardens, and cottage-style plantings, Apricot Chiffon also makes a lovely cut flower. Highly attractive to bees, it’s a perfect choice for pollinator-friendly gardens.
Soil: Well-drained soil.
Conditions: Full sun. Heat and drought tolerant.
Size: Height 20cm x width 20cm
