Cercis canadensis, commonly known as Eastern Redbud, is a lovely deciduous tree native to North America. Celebrated for its abundant spring display, it erupts in a profusion of pink to magenta pea-like flowers that bloom before the foliage emerges. Once the flowers fade, heart-shaped leaves unfurl, starting as a reddish colour but maturing to a rich green as summer progresses. In autumn, the leaves turn to stunning shades of yellow, adding another season of interest. Its ornamental features make the Eastern Redbud tree a popular ornamental tree for landscaping gardens.
