Araucaria bidwillii, or the Bunya Pine, is a towering Australian conifer. It grows in a distinctive, symmetrical dome shape with a straight, thick trunk. With lance-shaped leaves and cones the size of large coconuts, this imposing native brings a sense of Gondwana. Bunya pine nuts are edible and similar to chestnuts in texture and taste. The trees produce a small number of nuts each year and a large crop every three years.
