Found in the wild in the goldfields and wheatbelt of WA, Eucalyptus pleurocarpa or Tallerack is a native shrubby gumtree with distinctive green-white waxy stiff oval leaves. White fluffy flowers in autumn or spring are followed by striking geometric white-grey seedpods. It's a wayward wide shrub in the wild, but with a little judicious pruning it becomes a handsome feature plant for gardens - and you'll want to prune it as the seedpods are much prized for floristry and floral art.

Soil: Grows in most free-draining soil types. Prefers light sandy or gravelly soils.
Conditions: Prefers mild Mediterranean-climate areas of Australia with abundant sunshine, lower humidity, and drier summers. Protect from strong wind and frost. Drought tolerant.
